Drug Uses
Aldactone is in a class of medications called potassium sparing diuretics (water pill). It reduces the amount of fluid in the body without causing the loss of potassium. Aldactone is used for treatment of edema (swelling) and hypertension (high blood pressure). Aldactone is also used to treat potassium deficiency and hyperaldosteronism (a hormonal disorder).
How Taken
Aldactone comes as a pill to take orally. The general dosage is a pill a day, taken in the morning with a meal or taken 2 times a day with breakfast and lunch. This medicine does not cure, it only controls blood pressure levels, therefore, continue taking Aldactone even if you feel better. Do not stop taking Aldactone without your doctor`s advice.
