Drug Uses
Atarax is used for relief of anxiety and tension caused by psychoneurosis and organic disease states in which anxiety is manifested. It may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Atarax comes in pills to take in orally. The usual daily dosage for adults is 50–100 mg. Children over 6 years should take Atarax 50–100mg daily in divided doses. Daily dosage for children under 6 years of age is 50mg parted into several doses.
Additional Information
Atarax can cause giddiness. These effects may worsen if Atarax is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Atarax with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your physician. Atarax should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than ordered by your doctor.
